Clubsport Alloys
« on: 27 February 2018, 20:42 »
Hi all, I'm looking to possibly stick a set of Santiagos on my CS ED40 but am lacking some knowledge (in many things in life  ) in the alloy wheel sizes/offsets department!!

I think my 19" Prets are an 8" width but have got this info from the VW promo stuff for the CS which referred to one wheel option being the Prets with the semi slick Michelins CS2's 235/35/19 which is what I have. Am I right in thinking that I could fit a set of 19 x 7.5 with same size tyre but the critical info that I need is the ET measurement so that they clear the calipers ok?

There’s a good website willtheyfit.com which lets our compare sizes and offsets

Prets are 19x8.0 ET50. Santiagos are 19x7.5 ET51 which is exactly the same as the Brescia wheel, a factory option on the Clubsport so they should clear the calipers fine.

The only question here is the 235 tire width on a 7.5 wheel, generally 235 is the max recommended width on a 7.5 wheel, and it will probably give slightly less "direct" feeling and maybe minor "baloon look" but it's still on the allowable side.

PS. Are you selling your Pretorias? I am about to order a new summer wheel set and Prets were always high up my list but could not find a reasonably priced set in glossy black. If yours are drop me a PM.

Cheers for that mate, very helpful ....I was planning on keeping the prets which are the black ones but similar to yourself I'm contemplating having a second set to alternate summer/winter. I had a set of winter contact 850 Conti's fitted and have to say they're bloody amazing!!  really surprised at how good they are, never had winter tyres before but I'm now a convert!

I'll give it a bit more thought about Santiago/Brescia options, I quite like both and wanted to stick to gen VW option

Makes sense. But imho Prets should be your nice summer set! Also no reason really to run 19's for winter but you say you got the tires already so...

Brescias seem a bit of a bargain new: https://www.kunzmann.de/shop/en/golf-vii-7-wheels.htm

Half the price of Santiagos and being original to the CS will look right.
