Golf virgin
« on: 24 February 2018, 19:57 »
Hi all

Firstly great to find this forum! Ordered a new Golf GTI 5dr DSG :-

Tornado red
18”Parker wheels
Red Jacara cloth
Rear view camera
Lane assist including dynamic light assist
Side airbag system rear
Heat insulating tinted glass 90%
Climate windscreen
Dynamic chassis control

Chose the 230bhp version, have a sports car for even more thrills. Always admired GTI’s now at last i’m joining the club. Car has a confirmed build week (12th March) and dealer reckons should be in my hands by 2nd week April - can’t wait!!

Thank you for the welcome!

Bit complicated - I have a Volvo V40 D4 for my 40 mile each way commute, She Who Must Be Obeyed runs a Honda Jazz. She retired 18 months ago and I retire shortly so trading both in for the GTI. Golf will be our daily car and we run a Boxster for fun and sun days

Yes, our first Golf, nearly bought one on several occasions but for one reason and another never signed on the dotted until now. Surprising really driven on several occasions, always impressed and really looking forward to getting one finally.

Great choice and you will love the GTi.

Did you conider upgrading the wheels to 19s? The standard Parkers are more than a bit yuk!

Could go on and on with options as with most German cars, yes the 19” wheels are great but had to draw the line somewhere. Didn’t want to risk making the ride any firmer (hence DCC) SWMBO very sensitive to overly hard ride so decided to stay with the standard 18”

That’s why I switched to the Seville.
Stick with 18, avoided the white worm Parkers and still added DCC

Have you tried a car on 18s without DCC? The ride really is very good and so good that I dont really think you need the DCC.

DCC just adds that bit extra choice in my opinion.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

Lots of different opinions on here about wheels, and DCC for that matter. There is no right or wrong, just buy what you're happy with.

Good choice Auld Yin!.Love my rear camera and heated front screen.I don't think you'll need that much way down on the South Coast mind.Helps with the demisting as well mind.
If i remember rightly EVO magazine recommended DCC on 19" rims.So you should be well safe on 18".
