That is good value for this little car. It should be great fun with similar performance to a MK2 GTi and ideally suited to suburban driving.  I wouldn't recommend for fast A road commutes or long distance as there will be constant aggression and tailgating from the other drivers as soon as they see the GTI badge.  Hell knows I get enough of it in my GTi PP.  Tiresome.

My original choice was black and thought it was a bit mean they did not put silver stripes on it and it sort of loses its brashness

I'll be taking the longer twistier way home having more fun

Just been to see one at a dealer near me (5 door in white) and the photos/videos don't really do it justice.  It was parked next to a lower spec tornado red Up and the white looked nicer to me - the red is a bit too dull (sorry Wigit!), shame they don't do it in flash red.  Anyhow, the car looks far better in the flesh!  I'm test driving one next Wednesday and a purchase all depends on what the ride is like and also the power/torque of the engine.

First UK review from Volkswizard. Pretty positive on the whole, though I suspect many of the negatives come from the car not being run in. The actual 0-60 doesn't look to indicate truly how fast the car is as you need a change to third just before hitting 60.

I've had 2 white daily drivers and just need a change lol, also factor in the wife prefers red, in reality i can still change my mind in the next week before official order.

I agree it looks better as the photos make it look weird from certain angles.

5 door is the spiritual successor to the Panda 100.

Nice little review, I can't wait to get some eibach springs on it and some Federal 59RSRs on lightweight 16s on it and have some fun in the dry

So that's the car evo1986 Lee has been bombing about in!

A great review from Andrew there, hopefully he will drop by on here as he has a pretty unparalleled experience of the sporty VW's and Audis.
The short wheelbase and fairly tall body shell are bound to affect the handling and braking, but with brand new tyres with the chalk still on them in chilly wet January conditions with brand new discs and pads then it's not overly surprising the car felt a little skittish at times.
I think Andrew sums it up really well there.

I loved the bog standard up! I had as a courtesy car when they first came out. It got a good 'workout' in my hands including a blast along some forestry tracks. The little thing was so much fun, it took me back to my youth and my first car, a 1981 Daihatsu Charade. Now to some that may not sound like much of an accolade, but the Charade's 1.0 litre 3 pot would just rev and rev, which actually amounted to a decent turn of speed. It certainly had the legs to leave a nearby MG Metro. The Charade too could hold it's own being thrown about in the forests. Fond memories, but most probably rose tinted.

I can only imagine the up! GTI being even more fun, and will be well received by young buyers, but I can't see how anyone over 25 could live with one for much more than a week.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I had one as a courtesy car but the bu@@ers gave me an auto and it was the worst gearbox I've ever had the misfortune to use. Would like to give the GTI a go, that looks great fun. Would have to be red though.
