Good luck with the repair... I went to my local chips away branch for a stone chips ok was only £35 but I was very disappointed with the result you could still see it and was still dimpled that was the 1st and last time I'll use chips away...
Just my experience and opinion btw...
I know you’ll think I’m biased lol, but although the name is chipsAway, we dont really deal with stone chips, whoever came up with the name needs a short sharp kick to the bollocks in my opinion lol...the only way to effectively deal with stone chips, on for instance, a bonnet, I.e to get a smooth factory finish, it to sand the chips out, and respray the area...on a bonnet, that could mean by time you’ve primed the area, painted and blended the colour in and lacquered it, you could of treated the whole bonnet, which isn’t a SMART repair, and to get a decent finished, you’d need to keep heat in to whole bonnet, hence the reason, a temperature controlled booth is the best option, if I get a customer with stone chips, I always explain this, but also offer a touch in repair...dab paint into the chips and dab lacquer on to protect it, and I always explain the customer can also do this with a kit from Halfords...it’s surprising how many people want me to do it, for £35, than do it themselves...saying that, as we all know paintwork can fade overtime, so I always take a reading with my spectrometer and mix the paint on the van, so I know it’s a pretty much bang on match, I don’t like touching them in, as I feel I’m not doing a great job, but never had any complaints.
We are all franchised, some franchisees employ others to carried out the work, we all have to pass a IMI accreditation exam, so we are all following the same procedures to the letter, including employees...I know of a franchisee who employs a bloke with 26yrs experience, and is sh!t hot!!
Hope that helps you all, please no haters, I’m not here to argue/make excuses.
