16mb since January 1st, so hardly any. The interface is a bit amateur but the data it shows me is worth the struggle. Remember I'm a serious daily road user...

I never really got on with Waze. The UI leaves a lot to be desired and the routing for navigation can be a bit iffy. It once navigated me into some deep country roads only really suitable for tractors and ended up costing me more time.

If you have MIB2 nav in your car use mobile hotspot to get traffic info via CarNet.

Speed cameras can be displayed too, you just need to install database and then show them as POIs.

Works well for me, doing weekly mileage around the 1k mark.

I did try the VW Nav with CarNet traffic when I got my Mk7.5. I'd been moaning about the lack of VW traffic data all the time I had my Mk7 (where it was advertised as available, but not in the UK!).

The data was OK, the ability for it to navigate around problems was appalling though.

In my book, if you want to avoid traffic jams, use Google Maps. If you want to know about speed cameras, speed limits and other road hazards, use Waze.

TBH though all of them are likely to send you bizarre routes under certain conditions and I tend to only ask for directions when I get to towns and cities - I can usually find most urban areas all over the country without being told!

Generally, most people do the same route over and over, and know where the speed cameras are, although it's always nice to get a reminder. I think Waze only alerts you to a fixed camera if you're speeding. The beauty of Waze is it's speed of update. A mobile camera will be on Waze and alerting within minutes on a busy route. Installing a DB is only going to give you fixed camera positions.

My DB shows mobile hotspots as well (as in where they normally put camera vans).
Not as fast or instantly up to date as Waze certainly; but I don’t have any points ;)

Ah yes, i forgot about the Apple problem....

Apple have changed their mind and Waze is going to iOS on Fords to begin with.

That's the Ford car link think though isn't it. Not carplay... I guess it's not apple's decision about that either...

On the Ford, Waze is connected using an iPhone through Apple Carplay, so fingers crossed VW will allow this in the future...

Its not, its Ford SDL, which isn't Android Auto OR Apple CarPlay, its another system that works on either Android or Apple.

SDL is currently only on Ford though, with Mazda taking it too (I think those two have a close relationship)

I can't imagine that its going anywhere though, its a bit of a blind alley for development much like MirrorLink was (which also is another competing and now almost obsolete technology)
