Personal lease GAP ins?
« on: 10 January 2018, 11:02 »
I'm about to take out a personal lease on a new gti.
Any recommendations/advice on taking GAP ins out?        (I think it's called something else for a lease)
I will see if my ins cover for back to invoice for 1st year or so. If so can I get GAP after 1st year?
Thanks all

I want to make sure I'm covered if something happens.
Collected and being driven....... Gti PP 5dr DSG Tornado red, tints and Brescia's.

Do it. DirectGAP or other similar companies will offer 3 years gap for around £130. Well worth the peace of mind.

I bought GAP just before the car turned 1, not all companies offer it at this point but it is certainly possible.

ALA/Pistonheads I believe only allow for 6 months from delivery but are pretty good.

Its definitely worth doing - the policy for the scheme on lease vehicles covers not only the gap between replacement and your car insurance, but also the balance of the lease payments to let you get completely out from under the deal (yes, you can still be liable for those!!)

Should be about £150 but use the pistonheads scheme to get 10% off with ALA.

Other insurers are also available, but ALA have a good rep.

I bought through ALA at the end of August 2017, the car was 11 months old at the time.  A "Vehicle Replacement Plus" policy to August 2020 at a cost of just over £200.

Paid about £100 for my two year lease cover . That covers the full amount of outstanding payments and also the deposit payment that I paid. With Frank Pickles who are excellent to deal with.

We have used GAPinsurance.co.uk

Competitive premiums and were really helpful when I rang. Have both our current lease cars with them and will be doing the R with them when it arrives.
