heat shields dammit!!!
« on: 06 October 2005, 23:35 »
all my heat shields are funked, they all seem to have fallen apart at the fixings so i'd like new ones.

simple you'd think?! not so first port of call was german and swedish, who don't do them

vw don't even list them on ETKA so without a part number they as good as don't exist

just spent about half an hour on google and found only one or two, motorsport specific places that'd do anything like the original.

anyone got any ideas? doing my head in as they are all rattling round my exhaust!!
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post

Ive got the same problem mate, my GFs polo vibrates alot and the heatshield is making me suicidle!
The nuts to hold the things on seem to have disintegrated and i cant find any around.

have a look at this... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Heat-Shield-Aluminised-Mat-250mm-x-250mm-New-/220666536069?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3360c02085

It says it'll handle 500F direct heat and 1100F area heat, what you reckon? I think it just sticks itself to the undercarriage cos its self adhesive?

For what car Joe? If the Rallye, then Russ Whitefield  had the same problem on his Mk2 "C4RBD" I believe he ended up getting Mk3 shields and modifying them..
