Well this is coming back to bite me on the bottom. Direct Line, who are being pretty pants in dealing with my accident claim in January, have upped the premium on my renewal by over 40%
this year. So, first attempt to get a quote was with LV who declined me as they considered a pedal box an engine modification which they won't touch. Bugger. But it's not coming off 
LV are normally reasonably mod friendly up to a point so that's odd.
Admiral allow a certain amount of mods but can be a bit fussy.
The insurance on these cars has gone up quite a lot in the last year or two, maybe because the amount of R's stolen outweighs the amount of rear enders avoided by the radar.
My R was under £200 to insure with engine mods and pedalbox, plus bigger wheels yet the GTD and GTI CS were about 25% more than that, possibly more and both only had a pedalbox. I can't remember the exact figures now.
