I'm looking into options at the mo - can anyone clarify if the GTi/R comes with dynamic light assist as standard? I know there are options for it with lane assist etc. I'm in the process of pricing up on CarWow and DtD and they say its standard - no point wasting £630.
The new LED headlights are capable of doing Dynamic Light Assist. However, they require a camera to be mounted behind the rear view mirror. That only comes with other options i.e. Lane Assist or Lane Assist Plus.
I can find very little on how exactly Dynamic Light Assist works. This is my interpretation of how the system works. The camera is required to track other vehicles and even road signs. Each headlight is made up of dozens of LEDs. When another car is detected only a small portion of the main beam is 'dipped' in the direction of that car.
We are so used to thinking in terms of dipped/low beam and main/high beam headlights. Mercedes refer to their new LED technology as Multi-beam headlights. They can emulate the traditional low/high beam function, but they are capable of much more.
My final spec is now in my signature below. The only thing I have added is Art Velour seats.
