Don't forget those DTD discounts include the VW contribution for taking out PCP, so remember to take that off if you're self financing.

That's true mark. Looking at the spec I think this time round if I was to order there would be very few options I'd add. The standard spec is very impressive as it is. I would probably go for the Prets, the heated windshield and perhaps the mobile phone interface. Don't think id bother with the Nav pro or the DCC.

Comes in at just over of £30k on DTD which is amazing. Edit: For 3dr DSG

"Removal of Active Info Display - No cost option"

The Active Info Display is a £495 option, but deleting it is a 'no cost option'! Why VW UK, why!

I'm really disappointed. While I don't want it, I'm not sure I would delete it if there was no cost saving.

I'm still wondering how the GTD Blueline actually works it really cannot be less polluting by THAT much just by swapping the frikkin wheels.

And also asking why when on an R-line you have to pay £495 to upgrade from 17" to 18" wheels yet when they delete it from the GTD for the GTD Blueline, the price is exactly the same.

I've also noticed that despite the brochure saying that HBA is still available and still ~£150 its not on the configurator. "LED headlights with high beam assist" is but its £310.

Actually, you know what, yesterday someone was saying that its quite surprising the price has kept down...

Well it hasn't really has it?

You used to get winter pack, keyless and nav. The techpack was an absolute steal and several other options were cheaper than today. The finance contribution has gone right down too.

No, its not gone down really has it.

That's a really good price you know, for a car of that spec and speed.  Tempted?  You must be!

I went a little more trigger happy on my one  - DSG 3dr, TR, active display, DNS Pro, Dynaudio pack, Speilberg 19's, heated windshield, rear view camera, pano roof, carbon mirrors, tinted glass - came in at 38k on the configurator (so under that magic 40k to not be hit by that extra car tax) - and with a 12% discount that's just over 33k - which is pretty amazing given all those options and the car itself.

That is a great price. The only thing is i think I would be concerned about residuals this time round considering it is just a facelift so would probably keep the options fairly light

That's a very good point.  My thinking is that a 7.5 will hold its value a little better than the 7 given the new look & tech in the car, plus it's going to be at least 3 years (if not longer) before we see a mk 8 R, so it'll be much of a muchness by the time you come round to change.  Maybe!

Do they include deposit contribution for taking out finance? I haven't checked yet but 12% didcount including it seems a little low. Are you sure DTD etc have added it in rather than waiting to add it as at the time of posting they may not have known contribution level?

Either way, if you have the means or alternstive finance options, take the VWFS finance, cancel the finance in the cooling off period (14 days) and the settlement balance will have taken care of the deposit contribution with no penalties, just a day or 2 of interest at about £4 a day.

I did this with the wife's A1 to snag £500 deposit contribution and paid it off the day after collection.

Yes, the DTD quote stated that it included the VW PCP contribution (it was a grand I think), but again yes you're absolutely right to say to take out the PCP to get the additional contribution then pay it back straight away.

I personally think 12% is too low anyway, I'd look for a minimum of 14-15% discount.

Edit: As an aside, I've just had an email from DTD listing their current discounts, and a 3dr R (7.5) shows a 16% discount.  This includes the VW contribution granted, but it does show that 14-15% is easily achievable.  In fact after seeing that, I'd push for 17%

Just had a thought, if I looked at the R-Line CO2 figures for it with its standard wheels and then looked at the figure quoted for with the optional 18" wheel upgrade, we should see the effect the wheels have shouldn't we?

So turning to Page 42 of the brochure we see that an R-Line 2.0 TDI manual is 111g/km with 17's and 111g/km with 18's. The DSG goes from 120 to 120....

Nope that makes no sense at all.

That's why I asked if it included deposit contribution, before VW were offering any deposit contributions you could always get 12% off, with a grand deposit on offer i'd be expecting 15% to be standard DTD discount.

Slightly tempted by S3 for Sept - those virtual cockpit dials via LCD screen look a bit crap on the GTI youtube clip on the other facelift thread here. Looks fine when they're not being dials before the engine is turned on - I think the cockpit is optional on the S3 so I wouldn't tick that box.
