I think they are using it as a means of selling a few stock cars without discounting.  I got a good deal as I dangled the carrot before year end and didn't say yes until December 23rd ! They had counted it I. Their year end numbers so they went over and above to secure it being registered by end of year.

I Wasn't in a hurry so part of my deal was I asked that they stored it for me inside until I wanted to pick it up.

It always comes down to each dealer I think and how keen to hit targets .. When I spoke to a lot of them back in October there was zero discount or deal really but my research told me a lot of cars were going to land in December without owners hence I thought just pre Xmas was a good time to strike and Crewe had 5 cars landing..  Mike there was really good do deal with tbh did lots of stuff for me on email like quotes etc.

Happy to share some details of pcp in pvt if anyone wants.. The residuals aren't great so be warned but I am planning to buy mine outright at some point so did a 24 month pcp just to land the car but will be paying lumps off, hope the CS will be a keeper.

Given the nightmare I have had with BMW FS lately trying to pay my 330d off finally, I am hoping the CS scratches my fun car itch so I can cancel the M2 deposit as I don't want to deal with BMW FS again..

PS some really good YouTube videos of club sports at the Ring, worth looking at they seem to be great on the circuit and several of them look like they gave the ability to embarrass much more expensive kit..

Love mine and my 10% off list on a 3dr black, manual with good spec in November still looks about as good as it gets. Quite surprised not larger discounts by now

Tornado Red, Dynamic Chassis Control, Rear View Camera and 19" Brescia Alloys

just to share the info I gathered from my extensive calls when I was looking for the right CS...

I think it was back in October when working notice from my last job I had plenty time to make calls and send emails.  It was pretty clear to me the vast majority of cars coming in were for stock and not customer orders so I thought end of year would be a good time to buy.

There were really no discounts or deals to be had back in October but a few dealers were obviously getting several cars in and I reckoned they wouldn't all sell at list before year end so its worth ringing around to see whats in stock although pressure might be less for them to shift cars right now v end of Quarter.

I would say only a small percentage of the 25 or so cars I identified coming in had bucket seats which I was surprised at.  Quite a few poverty spec base cars with no options - I think dealers were caught out with VW pulling ordering and had probably used a slot with a base spec car expecting to change it later.  I know at least 2 dealers who confirmed that they were ordering cars to use a slot but because they were not for a customer, VW pulled the CS slot and turned it into a regular GTi slot.

I think of all the cars I found, only 1 was spec amendable and for a short time but no discount so I didn't do a deal otherwise I would have done to spec my ideal car.

IN terms of colours, I would say maybe 70-80% were white, mostly solid I guess because the base price is high.  I would say maybe 10% tornado red, 10% silver/carbon/black.  I guess the white shows up the black elements most but I have to say when I saw a red one I thought it worked really well.  Out of all the cars I found I think there were 3 red ones, but one had DSG and the other no bucket seats.

Will be interesting to see if dealers start pushing discounts but I guess given the generally good reviews in the press they wont have to hack a big % off, 5-8% would seem to be it, which will be good for residuals.

I think its a bit of shame the ordering thing was badly communicated so a lot of cars are arriving for stock without customer spec and things like the buckets are not optioned on that many.  If VW had been clearer on the run out times I for one probably would have specced my own.

Would be nice if VW confirm exactly how many have been / are built for the UK market.

I'm also very interested to know the final number imported once production has finished.  Maybe, one of our friendly dealer members will be able to find out for us in due course?

There is a "slight" premium on  this one

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/volkswagen/golf-gti-mk5-mk6/volkswagen-golf-gti-clubsport-s/6594122

But you can have it tomorrow!

Is it your car???

Looks great, I do like them in red.

I thought the list price was £33,995, doesn't that make the slight premium a mere 26% over?

The ridiculous thing here is in June I ordered and specced a 38k CS at the same time as ordereing my CSS

It was supposed to arrive Aug they thought, maybe Sept. I was desperate for a driver.

In November with no sign of it even being built I cancelled. We are now in January and the car is due to be built soon yet all these cars are out there on the floor

They lost out.
