^^^ Same. In the back of my Capri
The back window got smashed and a set got stolen but it didn't stop me replacing them with the newer version
Did you replace the back window Stevie or just ride round with a bit of see through plastic bag over the hole?!!

Now here's a pressing question that's been bugging me for all of the five seconds since I thought of it - does the Golf Estate/Variant/ugly thing for people with dogs have a parcel shelf too?
Obviously it would have to be a very large one but I just wondered how noisy the car would be without one in general use.
It's funny how VW have re-thought the parcel shelf attachment in recent models as they used to slide into their holders by pushing forwards but now they pop in from above.
I was rudely reminded of that when loading my old Ibiza Cupra with crap from my attic to do down to the dump which was too dusty to go near my lovely new Golf (at the time). I gave the parcel shelf a gentle tap from below and it didn't move, so I gave it a harder bang thinking it was just old and settled into place. On the second bang from below two plastic holders attached to the side (speaker) trim panels then flew into orbit never to be seen again...
Yep, the old car's shelf needed to be slid out of position
