Tiguan R (allegedly)
« on: 23 October 2016, 20:21 »
Looks like Volkswagen could be teeing up a super hot Tiguan using the R engine and brakes etc. Interesting departure should VW expand the .:R brand.

Hmmm, a three tonne four wheeled garden shed with a 300bhp petrol engine.
Aside from the OAP "you don't have to bend down to get in" brigade I really struggle to see why these 'cars' are so popular.
What do they offer that a Golf doesn't, assuming you don't live in a muddy quagmire? And if you did then surely you'd buy something that was more appropriate to that type of living.

Heavy,
Crap on fuel.
No aerodynamics.
Ridiculously expensive tyres.
Not that much room inside considering it's probably bigger than a T6.

Ahh, yes, fashion.

Ha ha! I'm not saying I'd like a Tiguan R. Just thought you chaps might find it interesting. Interesting from the point of view that VW may be about to expand the 'R' brand.

A 240PS diesel would have made more sense.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

A 240PS diesel would have made more sense.

There is one of those:

With more power on tap than even the current iteration of the iconic Golf GTI, Volkswagen is making its most potent Tiguan yet available for order in the UK this October.  The new 240 PS bi-turbo diesel, designated BiTDI, also offers an increase of fully 30 PS over the previous most powerful Tiguan, the 2.0 TSI seen in the preceding generation of the car.
