The following product updates take effect from build week 45 2016 (7 November). 

We are announcing these updates as early as possible to allow you to prepare.  In order to simplify the numerous updates, we’ve grouped them into three sections: inflation, model year updates and technical data updates.

Inflation

There will be a 1 per cent inflationary increase on the majority of the Volkswagen model range, effective 8 November 2016. The following models will not attract the 1 per cent increase:

New up! and e-up!
Golf Hatch, Golf Estate and e-Golf
Volkswagen CC

Option prices will also be increased on all models, excluding those listed above. Customer-tagged orders placed before 8 November will be price protected at the pre-increased value.

Specification updates

The Volkswagen Product team are currently finalising details of the model year updates with colleagues in Wolfsburg.  Full details will be provided as soon as possible.

Technical data updates

Starting from build week 45, Volkswagen will make a number of adjustments to the quoted CO2 and fuel consumption data for models across the range.  These updates are a reflection of the normal updates to quoted catalogue data which occur from time to time according to the usual established processes. Full details, including updated CO2 and fuel consumption values, can be found in the attachment below.

The CO2 and fuel consumption updates affect the following vehicles, for vehicles built in or after the quoted production week:

Prices already went up this year once. Some like the rear cam system went up dramatically.

Prices already went up this year once. Some like the rear cam system went up dramatically.

It's a VW thing (i'm sure other marques do it too) - little and often, usually around 1% a time, twice a year (happened 3 times in a year a few years ago). Maybe someone should tell VW corporate that inflation is practically zero across Europe. Hopefully they'll take the sting out of it by lowering PCP interest so that most won't actually see their monthlies go up (they sometimes do that) - Audi seem to have gone the other way recently and sneak up the interest rate when the market seemingly won't tolerate another RRP rise.

When I ordered my R, I added on Prets and they had gone up £90 between ordering the car and adding them on, I added on the extended warranty and again that too increased 10%. Moral of the story? Know what you want up front and don't procrastinate about changing your spec while waiting for the new car!

They'll charge what the market will bear, nothing more and nothing less. See what the Yanks get charged for a Golf R (Built in Germany, not Mexico), no way the Yanks would pay $47k (what it would have been before the recent Brexit slump for the $ equivalent of the UK basic price). The Yank model is brimming with standard equipment that the UK market pays through the nose for...DCC/Prets/Metallic Paint/Leather seats/Lane assist/Rear camera (£4200 worth of options there!), their options are dirt cheap (DSG is just $1100) and they get a 5 year powertrain warranty. When the pound is on a high against the Euro, VW never reduce prices.

Given the recent Dieselgate issues still not faded completely from memory I thought that VW would hold off on their inflationary rises.
