Electrical problem - any advice?
« on: 27 August 2016, 10:51 »
I own a Mk6 TDi 1.6l 2011. Just to build up a backstory, i have recently just taken it in for a timing belt and water pump change. After getting the car back my parking sensors don't activate at all, the assisted steering function doesn't work and my key or spare wouldn't lock the car using the remote locking.

I noticed as i put light pressure anywhere near the key ignition, while the key was in and car running, the parking sensor light flickered but still the parking sensors did nothing. This says to me that its a earthing problem but do any of the earths even get disturbed during a timing belt change?

Please any help is welcome, Thanks.

Electrics can be a funny problem to diagnose. The best thing to do is get it to a auto electrics guys and let him do some testing, costs about £50 but will have more knowledge than people guessing on here as it could be anything mate

Sorry to jump on this as well,

Noticed mine was doing a similar sort of thing this evening, after an evening of heavy rain, the dashboard and head unit flashed with the indicators, hoping it was just an earth connection that got really wet!
