Mk1 16valve Conversion
« on: 29 September 2005, 17:18 »
Greetings fellow dubbers!!!

OK I'm new to this forum malarkey but it seems like fun!!!

I'm currently getting myself ready for a 16v conversion on my mk1 golf, so far i have a 1.9 engine and a stage 1 head, I'm going to be using a scirocco 16v inlet manifold and I'm getting most of the other parts needed at the weekend off a mk2 golf

these are the bits I'm collecting at the weekend:-

Fuel System
Metering head/fuel distributor Fuel Injectors with fuel lines

Engine Electrics
Ecu & loom & sensors (knock sensor etc..)
Distributor & ignition leads & coil

Engine Ancillaries
Starter Motor/solenoid & fittings
Alternator & fittings

Brakes (entire front system)
Servo & master cylinder
hubs/bearing/carriers/calipers/pads

Others
Gearbox
Exhaust manifold & downpipe
Water pipes/hoses
oil breathers/vacuum lines etc..

I'm going to do a bodge job on the exhaust, using the mk2 manifold I'm hoping the mk2 downpipe will mate up to my mk1's pipe without too much hassle, has anyone else tried this???, I'll be turboing the beast later, early next year maybe so i cant see the point in buying a 4branch.

If anyone knows of anything I've missed off in this lot or has any words of wisdom I'd be extremely grateful, I'll also be happy to share my experiences when its done, I've got my camera armed & ready!!!

No advice for you just a good luck and welcome to the forum.  Dont know if this website will help at all but its just been recently found by Madone and may help somewhere along the line --> http://www.vintagewatercooleds.com/tech/index.html

If you are interested why not put your project in the project section. To do this you would need to PM jv or richandhazel but you cant use PM until you get to 10 posts.
