AFAIK, pretty safe with the on airport car parks. You need the ticket to exit...

You will get lots of crap on your car though if you leave it for a week - jet engine fuel leaves a nasty film.

Apart from that, don't be too precious with it or what's the point in having it?

Exactly, the car is going to plummet in value whatever you do so you have to get the most from it.

I leave mine at Airports, but always park myself - I'm not handing my keys over to anyone.

I don't, because I don't feel up to driving immediately upon returning from the USA (which is where our recent family holidays have been).  Also, an empty driveway at home advertises your absence.  Finally (as mentioned above) the risk of the car park dent - it would spoil my holiday since I'm a bit grumpy on returning (fun is over, back to work, all that).

I have left mine for weeks on multiple occasions at different airports and never had any issues.

I have in the past.

First time you left the keys and the attendants parked it. I was so uneasy about the whole thing.

Second time I parked at the end of a row with my wheels slightly over the line and noted the car beside me. Thankfully when I came back it was the same car.

Third time I couldn't face leaving the car and we were travelling from Edinburgh (we live in Glasgow) I bought a Skoda Estate for £350 and took that but still found myself parking at the end of a row  but no anxieties while we were away and a much more enjoyable holiday. I ran the Skoda for a year and sold it for £250 so an absolute bargain which I'm thinking of doing again.

I've used Glasgow airport car parking plenty of times however with my golf only ever used the one joined to the terminal which is usually filled with German Cars anyway so I think it's pretty safe.

I would never leave my car at an airport where they take your keys, tbh I didn't know we had those in the uk!

I would probably be a bit worried about leaving it at the airports which are a bit further away from the airport with less security though.

Those "valet" style airport car parking has often been a scam. The guys take your car from the drop off point and go park it wherever (usually on local housing estates). They don't actually have a car park!

What about if you live about 50 miles+ from the nearest airport or at least 2hrs away from the nearest large airport would you still get an airport shuttle or taxi, or would you brave taking your car or transit to the airport?

Train then taxi in that case.

Once they realise that no one is home they will have a field day trying to find the car keys, your better off leaving the car in long stay car park next to the terminal you are flying from, they are undercover and very secure. If it gets stolen from there you have been very unlucky.
Golfgti build quality is average at best.
