I know a red Golf with four exhausts and 19 inch alloys is never going to look too tame but I like the idea of most people just thinking its a regular golf.

No need to take the badges off to achieve that.  Most people think they are regular Golfs anyway.

Indeed.
Most people are surprised when I tell them "no, it's not a diesel"
In fact even my four pipes are now semi invisible. I kind of like that look but really should break out the Brillo pad and oven cleaner.

Lol, happy scratching and swirling.  It's white goods so no one will ever know.

The Golf R is understated enough and the R badging is hardly in your face, its as simple and as discreet as you can get and as already mentioned, the less informed would always state that the GTI is the elite Golf and have hardly a clue to what an R is and stands for.

Exactly how we like it or we would all be driving something else. The Golf R is perfect for my tick box of understated but alluding to something more.

Personally I think the badging is the perfect end touch and to remove would maybe lean car towards seeming to be a face lifted 1.4

My new R arrives next week and I like to idea of debadging it completely and was wondering if anybody here has done it?

It would be utter "Madness"
Audi S1 gone, awaiting 1.5tsi r-line, pan roof, led lights front and rear, active dash, 18" jurva alloys and a dealer fitted Oettinger roof spoiler in tornado red.
