Glad I stuck with getting a Golf R, I would be seriously pee'd off if I had bought a normal Clubsport only to find the S version is what the Clubsport should have been in the first place!
Volkswagen have lost the plot! Both in terms of pricing and equipment / spec!

Making it limited edition... Surely apart from handiling the clubsport will map the same as the clubsport s, unless theyve changed some engine components

From what I have read, they are saying the Clubsport S will have the full beans and not a 290ps over-boost setup, no rear seats with roll-cage, revised tweaks, lighter overall which is true Clubsport ethos.
The standard Clubsport was a half-effort, hence why a lighter S is being talked about.

It will be good on track but as a everyday proposition the Golf R is the one to get.

This is getting very confusing now,

Maybe they should have renamed the Clubsport as an Edition40 anniversary model to celebrate the GTI brand
R as a non-limited run performance model
Clubsport S as bespoke track toy

I ordered a Clubsport and I'm not pee'd off in the slightest.

I could of got an R for less money (same options) but wanted a GTi.

The Clubsport S is a track based car, but I wanted a road based car as I have a dedicate track only car.

I'm happy to have a GTI 

Granted its a small niche between them all now, but its a niche none the less and they will sell all I am sure.

It appears the rumour mills are stating the Clubsport S will be 306bhp.  So that makes it a GTI outputting a higher bhp than a Golf R of the same mark.  With this in mind when is the R400 going to come out.  I suspect on the Clubsport S, VW will charge for the privilege of removing the rear seats and ripping the air con out

Definately charge for less.
The r400 is something id like to get a closer look at.
