Although I've only had my GTI for 8 months I am already thinking of the next car
Coming from an A4 Avant I sometimes miss the practicality of a wagon. I fancy an R estate but the non-LED tails and plain jane looks kind of put me off, maybe an S3 sportback, A6 estate or even a Skoda Superb 2.0T ..I have plenty of time to decide though. The best part about getting a new car is going and testing all "the contenders" !

Had a good look at a Golf R estate at the weekend. Again not impressed by the lack of LED tail lights, and the fake quad exhausts. Looked at the Tiguan R line in white which looked really smart.

Anyone taken delivery or ordered a Tiguan over an r. I received an offer for Dsg r line 150 for 230inc a month at 50 quid a month cheaper would make sense given  the saving. That being said I appreciate 2 different cars.

Recent experiences with my local Audi garage for recent warranty work on the wife's A1 are putting me right off Audi. The rubber door seal on the drivers side that runs across the top of the door and comes to a point around the wing mirror had split along the flexible edge, so it went in for a new one. They did a piss poor job of lining the new one up - it all bunched up at the wing mirror end, making the door hard to close. They also put 3 small dents on the windscreen pillar, right where it meets the troublesome bit of seal. I assumed some kind of clamp/stay for keeping the door held in the open position was to blame. They denied doing it. Seal 2 was fitted the other day and that isn't fitted right either, there's a bulge on the inside, which again makes the door hard to close. After going down there and having it out with the aftersales manager, they've agreed to fitting seal number 3 and repairing the indentations at the bodyshop. No apologies for time wasted or the damage.

And then I saw a brand new S3 on Hankooks - FFS!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Almost all dealers are crap - it's just the variation on how crap they are!

Also - Hankooks whilst not what I'd put on are apparently not too bad. Still what I'd class as somewhere between budget and mid range. I guess it's easier to hide an inferior tyre on something with 4wd.

The brand new Hankooks are supposed to be a very good tyre. Can't remember what's it called but it was in vw driver magazine last month and when you look at the ratings online are better than the more expensive brands.

I contacted select car leasing with a view to cancelling the r and taking the r line Tiguan on a 6+23 at 270 PCm.

Select are now refusing to refund the 300 deposit given that order has been placed. I've advised them that they haven't even got a build date yet so they can cancel with no issue they are not being left with a car they have to offload.

I'm waiting for the manager to call me to try and fob me off.

With a whole raft of average speed cameras popping up at 2 major roads on my commute to enforce a 30mph speed limit on what was a 70mph road, i might just get a poxy little Aygo 1 litre as i'll have to do 30mph on dual carriageway along almost half of my commute.

Mate bham council are testing the idea of replacing normal cameras to average speed. They are piloting 8 cameras of which 6 are on my route to and from work.

Popped in my local BMW garage over the weekend to show the wife the 4 series Gran Coupe and ended up doing a deal on one  :)

Had no real intention in ordering one but got a very good 3rd Quarter Deal on a car going into production allocated to the dealer (so they were keen to shift it to meet targets).

So gone for a 440i M Sport Gran Coupé in Alpine White, Corel Red Leather with black highlight and piano black trim.

Options: Advanced parking pack / Active security pack / Interior comfort pack / Innovation pack / M sport plus pack / Adaptive suspension / Variable Sport Steering

The car is scheduled for production so they are talking as early as the end of September for delivery.

I will of course be sad to see the M135i go but I fancied something a little more comfortable and grown up.

My dads recently got a similar spec 340i which I've had many drives of so I know what to expect especially from the new B58 engine.

So pretty excited right now and looking forward to the new car.
