Honestly, I'd pay the extra money and get the wheels properly diamond cut again
I would but it would only need it again in the not too distant future, with my car being Used daily with the filthy and awful state that British roads are in these days.
They shouldn't get too bad providing they are well protected(wax/sealant) and not curbed.
I still have my Monzas on which are 3.5 years old and no white worm
Candy White 3 dr Manual 2012 GTi. Bought new.
DAB, Dynaudio, Kenwood Head Unit Upgrade, Private Plate,
Full Leather and Heated Seats
18" Shadow Monzas, luxury pack.
Colour coded side skirts and gloss black diffuser.

there's places who will refurb for less than 450, I've had quotes for less, I'd get them done make sure they're properly waxed and sealed prior to fitment, you take care of them they'll take care of the way your car looks!
MK6 GTi - Black - DSG - 18' Monza shadow - Luxury Pack - Convenience pack - Park assist - Xenons - RNS510 - Adaptive chassis control - Dynaudio - Bluetooth - Reverse camera - front/rear sensors --mods-- Evoms Intake - Eurojet/stasis Turboback Catless 3" exhaust

As said earlier mine are 6 years and 55k old. They get taken off the car twice a year (before and after winter) and cleaned and sealed and washed most weeks inside and out but never jet washed. They do stand up to UK winters but do need a bit of TLC as well.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
