Have recieved a call from VW Exeter.  Cannot fault them on customer service, first class.  Without any hassle or arguing my case they have come forward and offered to repair the damage to the wheel, no mater how small and minor it may look in the photo.  They are going to check a few body shops for the best solution and then put forward their suggestion to repair the wheel for me.  I must say for customer service I would score them 10/10 so far.

Result! I have just received an email from VW Exeter stating they will swap the damaged wheel with a showroom car wheel.  This is more than I expected.  Happy Days!

Fair play to the dealership there. Really good service.
Wonder if they'll just take a wheel off an unregistered car and claim from Volkswagen "look at the state of this wheel when the car was delivered to us" not that I'm cynical of anything.

Exonian, I think if most of us had a dealer, it is what we would try at least once to see if it would work.

I suspect seeing as I only have about l60 or 70 miles of wear on the tread of my new tyre they will swap the wheel and tyre as a complete unit to save time.  They tell me time is tight.  This would be fine as all golf performance car wheels, at least in this neck of the woods are fitted with wonderful Bridgestones by VW.

Will be going in today if can fit in to their tight schedule.  Will let you know how it goes.

Have just been in to VW Exeter, what can I say, first class service.  Replaced wheel with brand new wheel.  The damage was tiny, but good to their word they replaced it anyway, even though workshop guy had trouble initially finding the damage.

Good news!
I didn't realise you were popping in there today or I'd have whizzed down to say hello, I'm not very many miles away.

Would be good to meet up, will have to meet up some other time soon.  Hard to find people of similar interests in my neck of the woods.  I had another look at the R in the showroom today, looks great, I feel an itch starting which may need scratching. Just trying to resist until more info on clubsport are released. Don't want to rush in too soon 😊

We'll have to arrange a SW mini meet soon then.
James75 will be up for it and I know of a few others in the area.
I can bring my VCDS if there's anyone that wants any coding doing.
