I would expect the overboost facility would benefit from 98 Ron.
The engine will require 98 for optimal performance, yes
The R can run on 95 too but not without performance penalties

VW is a huge company, they need cash flow to keep things ticking along.
When they bring the Clubsport to market are they likely to turn paying customers away?

Look at the Ed30, many quote 1/1500 cars, when there are nearer 2200 in the UK. Porsche were due to bring in 200 Cayman Gt4, they are currently trading at £25-30k over list, more cars are arriving which should bring the total to nearly 400. Mclaren said they would only make 500 LT, now another 500 are arriving in Spyder form.

VW need to sell cars, I wouldn't buy into the hype being generated before it arrives, too much!

So did they discount the edition 30?  I am told its not a limited edition but a limited release date meaning that the order window will be limited, but that there is no limit to how many within that window.

Its difficult with getting deals like 12% to make a decision.

The Golf GTI Clubsport will be built in 2016 only, this in itself means its going to be produced in limited numbers, probably very limited discount ability if at all and perhaps low volume for lease companies.

I have just watched a Netherlands you tube review on the GTI Clubsport.  It claims the 5.9 sec 0-60 time stands for both Manual and DSG, but the 286bhp boost is available from pulling away with Launch Control on DSG where as the manual transmission does not get the 286bhp boost available until gears 3 to 6.

If the full power of the boost is available on DSG Launch Control then surely it will be quicker off the line, else what is the point of having DSG with launch control over a manual transmission?

Are people really paying for this nonsense?

This is what I don't get if you had launch control you would think the car being quicker off the mark would produce a quicker 0-60 time.  But it doesn't according to the figures put forward?? So is DSG on a GTI Clubsport worth the extra money?

You say it like the only reason to buy the DSG would have been because it produced an inconceivably real world 0-60 time better when launched.  I guess most of the people on here who have DSG didn't buy them for the launch feature or the 0.00002sec improvement.

As Organisys says, do people really use launch control?

Interested to hear whether the Cupra Sub 8 or Megane 275 Trophy or Cup-S need to reduce HP until 3 gear?  Both FWD with near as damn it same BHP.

I used it once on the M4 just to see what the hype was, and put it this way, never bothered again!

Did not mean this was the only reason to buy DSG as I have wondered what it would be like to drive a golf with DSG myself.  But just found it odd for the video review to state all the power of 286hp was available to the DSG launch control but not manual until gears 3 to 6 ?

I know there are many reasons to have DSG and as I state earlier I have even thought about trying it myself.  I also understand Launch Control is hardly used if ever.  It is just simply the comment made on the video baffles me a bit if DSG has the power on lower gears before it's available on Manual you would have though the 0-60 times may be faster for the DSG?

Gotcha, perhaps the chassis and front suspension just can't take the power and regardless of the launch feature it just can't apply it to the road so no actual gain perhaps?

Still makes me wonder how the talented Megane Trophy does it so well. Or even the Cupra on the same platform.  The more i look at the Megane the more it ticks the boxes with the Ohlins, recaros and akrapovic exhaust (all options but available)

Just seen that the part numbers are in ETKA for the lettering strips on the bottom of the door sills.

Grey and Black, assumingly for dark and light cars, but 40th lettering and Clubsport, so maybe we will get a 40th version in UK?
