Grinding/ABS braking low speed turn to right....!
« on: 07 September 2015, 18:29 »
I'm after some ideas please....
Last night noticed that when turning to right and applying brakes at low speed the brake pedal was grinding briefly.  I initially thought it might have just been a stone on a pad.
I've managed to replicate several times just now.  Same speed, similar steering angle.  After a few goes it deffo feels just like when the ABS kicks in.
Its been lowered and recently had all new hubs, ABS senders, discs and pads up front.  Brakes look OK.  I'm gunna jack it up and have a poke about in a bit.

You think an abs ring is damaged?  Rings/hubs/sensors/bearing/brakes were new when I had the TT bearing carriers fitted....  would damage only make it pulse when turning?
I'm gunna get a look make sure everything is tight and looks correct.
You know when driving slow you skid on ice and the pedal pulsates/grinds under foot, feels just like that but only when slow and turning right.  Can't find anything similar on line.

I'm just trying to install VCDS-lite onto my fresh Windows 10 install .... I would insert an appropriate sad face but they don't appear to work on this OS

Jacked it up a minute ago.  Nothing obvious.  Very small bit of play in rack.  I tried to see ABS rings, but not keen getting too far under with the widow maker.  The o/s "maybe" looked like it had been rubbing on ABS sensor.  Not 100% sure.

Got vcds lite working now! Did Abs measuring blocks to see the 2nd one along was showing zero or intermittent. Front right? Makes sense as abs kicks in when turning right. Booked in at weekend for service and repair
