Need help to remove scumbag residue
« on: 11 August 2015, 21:12 »
As some of you will know my golf r was stolen at the weekend. The police response was brilliant (helicopters roadblocks etc ) & they managed to recover the car unmarked.

My question is what interior products should I use to give the interior a full cleanse ,I don't want to just Hoover the carpets & wipe down the dashboard., imagine the car had a rat infestation & it needed cleaning.

Is it cloth or leather  Gazmondo?  I would suggest giving it a going over with a steamer and then using a good interior cleaner.

Cloth and leather upholstery and some trim can take a steam clean as long as you go careful.  Maybe a wet/dry Hoover on the carpets.

Tempting as it is, I would avoid using any strong detergents on it which may, in time, degrade the trim, and cause discolouration over time.

Unfortunately not local but I've used a carpet cleaning company in the past as they have small steamers which are great for seats.

Thanks guys, I hadn't thought about using a steamer, but it make perfect sense .I don't own one but I think my neighbour does, the car has cloth interior so I imagine it should be okay to use.

A steamer will be fine on cloth.  But as much as actually physically getting it clean, steaming will help it to feel 'cleansed' of the scum if you know what I mean.

I'm glad you've got the car back unmarked, and sincerely hope you can 'exorcise' the feeling of the little b*st**ds who stole it!

Do the roof lining too, just incase the little scrotes smoked in there too, plus you'll be surprised how much that will freshen up too even on a new car.

Cheers Neil , I hadn't thought of that , it looks like I won't need to do the carpets as the police have informed me today that scumbags have used a Stanley knife to cut up the carpet presumably looking for a tracker ,oh joy.

Mother truckers, I'd love to get my hands on them for you!!!

If you can cope with the commute tell your insurance company you want the repairs doing at Chartwells in Derby, they are first class and will give you a foc courtesy car of ya ins company won't

At this point I don't know how it's all going play out, my car insurance will not do anything until I get the car back from the police,my house insurance are being so slow in fitting  me a new door which I need done before I get the car back to properly secure the house, I hope to get it to a main dealer to carry out the work & not the Grease monkeys that ruin the paint on my last mk7 gti , I have never have seen swirls like it ,they must have washed it with a bucket of sand .

Also if the car does need the paint corrected , because I have already done this after I picked it up, how many more time can I do this before I blow through the clear ,on the last correction  I used menzerna fg400 followed by menzerna 4500 with the rupes 15. Cheers
