Nice work mate.

Have a set of TTRS brakes myself to go on too. Who did your caliper refurb? Looks a brilliant job.

They took a while to come back, but the end result is phenomenal. The finish is so good, its almost too nice to use as a brake caliper. Posting is cheaper than I thought too, cost about £15 recorded by Royal Mail

Tell me about those headlights.

Are they basically projectors with and after-market HID bulb and ballast in them? Do they fire up straight away like OEM do, or is there a delay where they are dim to begin with, then warm up to full brightness like most cheap HID kits?

Im a bit of a headlight novice so not sure what the difference is between HID and xenon . . . . . but ill do my best mate. . . .

They are a 6000k xenon(?) (OEM is 5000K I am led to believe), the units come with integral ballasts and use the xenon as a low and high beam, just like OEM. There is no delay in warming up, and with the exception of a small amount of 'fiddling' to get them to fit right (you swap over the existing headlight brackets), you really cannot tell the difference between OEM and these. I am more than happy with the results, nice sharp spread of the beam and good quality. Barter a bit and you wont pay the £450 either

HID and xenon are the same thing. The aftermarket kits that replace the bulbs in halogen headlights tend to be a bit slow to get to full brightness. When you first turn them on, they flash brightly, then dim down to about half power before brightening up to full power over a second or so. This is not usually an issue as once they are on, they are on, and main beam uses the same bulb, just the beam pattern altered by the shutter behind the lens. However, if the headlights are off and you flash main beam, you may not get full brightness straight away, which kind of defeats the whole object.

After yours have been off for half an hour or so and the ballasts have cooled down, could you switch them on and see what happens please? Also, what are you using as DRLs now?
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

when fitting the headlights did you have to do any coding to get them working or are they plug in and play ?

Yeah no problem, ill do it tonight and report back. The low beam is the DRL I think. I have only really driven in the dark since fitting them. . . . again ill report back!. You can use VCDS to set the fogs on as DRL's, I only fitted them the other day so haven't really had too much of a chance to play with coding.

Plug and play mate. Uses all OEM fittings and didn't have to code anything. Some have reported high frequency flickering from repro xenons (not specifically the Xenonz UK ones), I had none

Just remembered seeing a Valeo cap on the back of the light(s), this would suggest (unless its a copy) that they are pretty good units. Valeo provide a good few OEM brands like Jag, Volvo etc.

Your GTI has standard halogen lights or xenon without DRL? As I understand it the xenonz uk ones only work if you have the halogen lights currently.

I'm really starting to get interested in these too. I know there was a group buy for some before so maybe there's interest for another? Think they got them down to £390 for the headlights last time

Yeah I'm also looking at the xenons with DRLs

Ok, so doing some research and highly complex scientific testing (switching headlights on and off), I can provide some answers to those that are interested in the Xenonz UK headlights-

After yours have been off for half an hour or so and the ballasts have cooled down, could you switch them on and see what happens please? Also, what are you using as DRLs now?

No issues experienced, headlights operate as normal with no dimming or delay in activating.

wonder if the headlights with leds drl are same then would really like them as my gti has standard lights :/

It seems that you have to activate 'Scandinavian' mode in VCDS. This sets on all lights in daytime (think Swedish Volvos), therefore the LED outer DRL's would be on (as would rear lights and low beam)

However, if the headlights are off and you flash main beam, you may not get full brightness straight away, which kind of defeats the whole object.

No issues. With the headlights off, and pulling on the high beam stalk, the lights come on full High beam intensity without delay

All seems good. Hope this helps people.
