Are you trying to say what great value the GTI is compared to the R now, and that new R buyers are being had over a barrel? Yep, you're not wrong.  C'est la vie!   :kiss: :kiss: :kiss:

More like shafted. :laugh:

Such crude language  :shocked: :laugh:  I expected something far superior from a wordsmith such as yourself.  You must try harder my sweet  :kiss:

I suppose it gives you some warped comfort seeing us paying over the odds.  Does it make you feel better about your measly 5.8" DNS screen being defunct a mere 3 months into ownership.  You know how important size is  :tongue:  :kiss:

I thought long and HARD which verb would best describe the situation. SHAFTED seemed the most appropriate and expressive; and I knew it would titillate you. :tongue: :kiss:

I am no Size Queen as I have been blessed where it counts:drool: :laugh: :kiss:

Big mouth then  :laugh: :wink: :kiss:

Nice for you to take time out from your lofty R Forum ivory tower to visit us lowly GTI forum-ers (though some may not agree, lol).  :kiss:

And how is your Racy Tornado Red beast?  :laugh:

There really is no pleasing you is their AM1W. I remember not too long ago your comments about the inferior FWD GTI and how the R was superior in every single way.

The GTI isn't great value. Even with the freebies they now offer. Back in July 2013 my GTI cost £33,187 before any discount.

Speccing the same car I bought on VW's configuration today and it's £33,637. £450 more expensive than I paid even with the free Discover Nav! The price increases have outweighed the freebies, so if you think you're getting a great deal then think again.

Nothing will ever beat the crazy lease deals they had on the R I'll admit but the price the R is now is the price people should always have been paying. But people just have to face the fact that those lease deals aren't ever coming back and depending on what finance choice you've chosen then you're not necessarily getting "shafted".
Current - MK7 Golf GTI - Tornado Red, 5 Door, DSG, Performance Pack, Dynamic Chasis Control, Panoramic Sunroof, Discover Navigation, Dynaudio.

On Order - MK7 Golf R - Pearlescent Black, 3 Door, DSG, Vienna Leather, Discover Nav Pro, Rear View Camera, High Beam Assist, Keyless Entry, Dynaudio (Tech Pack)

All gone.

Now;

MK7 Golf R - Lapiz Blue, 5 Door, DSG, Carbon Nappa, Discover Nav Pro.

Have to admit given the spec upgrade to include nav and winter pack is making me seriously look at leasing a more door DSG GTD to replace the Polo as the work run about at the moment as those are the two options i would like and no longer load the lease price

Yeah, I guess that's where you reap the benefits of these items now included as standard spec on the GTI/GTD - keeping the lease figure down whilst getting some toys.  Is your your polo diesel or petrol?

We're thinking of getting back into a GTi to replace the wife's 1 series convertible after I had to be sensible and flog the Mk6 to get a diseasel. She wants a white 5 door with a sunroof as everything else she might have had is now standard.
£29410 list. I bought my Passat through Car Wow so did the same here. Offers coming in at £24850, over 15% discount. Stick £900 odd onto that if we decide to go for a PP and job's a good 'un in my book. Still less than £26k brand new for a very well specced car.
It also means the GTi could be had for less than £24k brand new if you stuck to the now well equipped basic car.
You have to use VW finance to get that price but that level of discount isn't bad in my book. Could it be that they can't sell the GTi anymore as everyone is buying the R?

AM1W;

I'm not going to rise to your irritating petty attempt to provoke a reaction from me. Grammatical corrections are so childish and since I'm not writing an academic dissertation then I really couldn't care either. I'm posting on my phone, on a forum.

I think my figures quite clearly showed that the GTI is no better value now than it was 2 years ago when it was first released. Even the base price of the car has gone up considerably. So I disagree with you.

Rebecca;

I honestly don't know. The communication with my dealer is worse than carrier pigeon. I've not really been too concerned chasing it up though as my GTI is more than keeping me occupied, entertained and happy for the time being.
