will probably get the Soundaktor turned down or turned off straight away (as soon as I can get a lend of mcmaddy's VCDS ).

I think you should run it with the soundaktor on for a while before deciding whether to disconnect it or turn it down.  That's what I intend to do.  Lots of varying opinions on this one but surely best to see what it's like (in the various modes) first?  I'd be interested to hear your view on it.

I remember it being very loud on the test drive, much louder than the GTD in Sport mode. It was a bit of a buzz at the time, being encouraged to put my foot down by the salesman, but I doubt I could live with it that loud on a daily basis. The car will probably left in Race all the time, as the GTD has proven time and time again that eco mode isn't very economical at all if you don''t change your driving style to that of an old lady (which would have reaped mpg rewards in any other mode).

Ben: are you treating the car to some sealant etc over the weekend? Hope the weather holds up for it if you are!

Put it in Individual and you don't need to get it turned off. To be fair even in Race unless you floor it absolutely everywhere I don't think it is that intrusive !!

I thought that if you went into individual mode that “engine” covered both throttle response mode and the soundaktor, that the 2 are inseperable?

Definitely the case with my GTD, You can’t have the engine in Sport mode without the Sounkadtor doing its thing.

I would probably dip into the individual mode to keep the steering and engine in race, and go normal or eco for the aircon and a few other bits, but that will still leave the soundaktor wound up. I might give it a week and see how hard it is to live with. Easily knocked off or down if I don’t like it.

You won't even notice it unless you're flooring it MH - and then it comes into its own   Hope pick up all goes well and looking forward to seeing the pics!

Have you still got your soundaktor enabled, and not turned down at all?

It is more skinny with a clump of hair, hence looking like a matchstick.  Alas, this was donkey's years ago and I've filled out since then

I have mine turned up to the max, so in 'D' its hardly noticeable but when its in 'S' its very loud - but then I like it!  I wouldn't cruise in S though as then it does become noticeable, but I cruise in D mode anyway.  I think it's a great feature to be honest

You like it then

I will reserve judgement until I've heard it for myself.  When my car comes, I intend to keep the soundkator as it is for a good few weeks, trying out the different profiles, then decide if I like it or not.  Hell, I'll even give the Bridgestones a chance

I do!   I'll be interested to hear what you think of it as it seems most people don't like it.

Actually, the Bridgestones are not too bad on the R as the AWD counter acts the sh!t tyres (much better than on the GTI) - saying that, I will be chopping them in for PS3's as soon as I can burn through them as they're still not as grippy as I'd like!

Well I haven't heard a thing from my salesman yet today, although i forwarded on my revised VW 5 day insurance cover note to him (that has the correct reg number on). I also sorted out my GAP with ALA after playing them and 123 off each other, and sorted out my proper insurance to kick in on Monday.

I was pleasantly surprised by Esure - they charged me £8.76 for the car swap, I was expecting a hefty admin fee to be levied in there.

Will give the salesman until 3pm before chasing him for a pick-up time, as I leave work at 3:30pm today and would like to be driving straight there before the traffic on the stretch of the A1 between the Metrocentre and the Angel of the North gets beyond ridiculous.

I'd call him now MH, you don't want to call him at 3pm for him to turn around and say they haven't got enough time to do the PDI!

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the GAP insurance with ALA?  That's probably who I'll be looking to go with for mine.
