and they don't look anywhere near as good as the Cadiz wheels IMO

Hmm, I'd be of the completely opposite view, but each to their own! To my eyes, the cadiz look like halford replicas and are diamond cut (pain in the arse) into the bargain.

If it was my own money and they mucked me around like that I'd be buying a BMW (even if they suck ;-)) and I'd be down the BMW garage the same day.

The "usual" VW 4-6 months waiting is quite honestly poor enough, this is just a joke.

Just not good enough when you are spending 35k on a car.

The usual 5-ish month wait doesn't bother me, you just order in good time, but BW48 would be looking at Christmas time delivery which is just madness.

Trouble is there's nothing else out there I want.  BMW's are not for me.  I did consider and look at A45 AMG but in the flesh far too blingy and the price tag for one with a decent spec is stupid money for a hatch.

In any case I was wanting the R on a '65 plate for 1st Sept so some slippage of build week would not be an issue, say week32/33/34.  I won't make any rash decisions and will see how it plays out for now.

Hmm, I'd be of the completely opposite view, but each to their own! To my eyes, the cadiz look like halford replicas and are diamond cut (pain in the arse) into the bargain.

Sums it up nicely.  VW's choice of diamond cut alloys are looking increasingly tacky.

Booth11: Audi S3, if the sportback doesn't look too estatey for you? Some good discounts available, should be quicker to get here than an R, but you will need to spend on the options list.

Like you, there wasn't a lot else out there that I liked the look of when the mucking about started.

Considered previously MH but S3 Sportback looks leave me cold and yes, too estatey for me.  Find Audi's very, very bland.  It isn't all about looks but as I'm intending to keep the car for about 4 years, it does matter (yes I know you're driving more than looking at it).

The R still ticks all my boxes in a way that nothing else out there does, so I will see what transpires.  As said, not in a rush but would like to see it sooner rather than later, having ordered a good 7 months ahead of when I want it.

S3's looks are really growing on me. It is exquisitely appointed on the inside and is a cut above the R. The S3 is beautifully made and I like the chrome window surrounds whereas the R has that horrid nasty rubber stuff. What really annoys me most about the R is that you can see the painted door frames inside. Having a Black car helps. Definitely not very nice. Cheapens the car.

2. Car-Net eRemote. Contract Duration 3 years. 1 year free of charge - option code YOW

So it would appear I get the "e-Remote" feature?! I've no idea what the cellphone interface thing is. Dealer doesn't know either.

Isn't e-Remote only for electric and hybrid cars?

Well, as of this evening mine's now BW45, so it's moving in the right direction.  Just needs to move forward another 21 weeks and it'll be where it started  :undecided:
