Brake Discs - Which Ones?

Got the Bosch from Euro 312mm had an extra 5% discount so pads and discs fro the front cost £150 delivered. Just called a local garage who will do the work for £45 so saves me messing about on Sunday. Think £45 isn't a bad deal at all.

Think mine have been on since the car was bought, if so they have 65,000 on them ...

Definitely time for a change then!

The stealers recon mine are on about 50%-60% worn on fronts. 35k. probably get another year out them i think?

one thing is due is the brake fluid. is this critical? many people change it? i dont know how to check before anyones asks.  would happily if i could!

I haven't changed my fluid yet, car is 5 this week, 58K miles

The dealer said unless I noticed a spongy pedal there was no need.

I will probably get it changed in the next service as I think I need pads as well.

A dealer not only turning down the chance to make money but also being completely wrong - what a strange combo!

Iv'e been doing mine inline with the manual. It was brought up in my MOT last month the gardge that did it said the fluid was due to be changed he said they tested it by dipping something into the resevoir that tested how much water is in the fluid. Mine was too high thus recommened to change. This being said it's only been 1.5 years since it was done and technically not due till it's next service so I polity declined.

Unsure how long you can push it for but when it comes to brakes I like to ensure mine are working

My cars on nearly 67k and on original discs. Stealer has been trying to get me to replace them and the pads for 2 yrs! They are Defo on there last legs now tho.

Had hoped they would last till I get my Mk7 in a few months, but unfortunately it looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet. Awaiting a price back from my local Indy. Only found out bout the economy versions today. They should save me a few quid at least.

Anyway parts come down to £120 + £45 for fitting at a local garage, so much better than the £270 quote I got from an indy.

Also car seems to be driving a little better, I was always getting some kind of feedback from the steering wheel, only very slightly at certain times when driving and so now I suspect the discs may of been warped a little.

Can I ask which brand they supplied? I'm always interested in keeping my prices competitive and it's good to know who buy's what etc
