Starter problems

if the starter was staying on all the time it would get very hot

pushing the clutch pedal & the noise goes away...are you sure its not the clutch release bearing or clutch making the noise ?

Thanks foe the reply, I had a new clutch kit and g60 lightend and balanced flywheel fitted not that long ago.
The starter dose get hot, is there anyway of testing if its staying on?

i would look at the starter relay first , or the ignition switch ,as sounds like something is wired up wrong
