Just put the ignition on but do not start the car and put it into reverse. Get out the car and both sides should be lit up. I have put 100w MTEC H7 bulbs in mine and it is an amazing improvement over standard.

 My turn for this...

Both lights seem to have gone at the same time is this likely to be bulbs or something else?

You are not in "eco" mode? They don't work in eco. Both bulbs can blow at the same time but it is rare.

Never been in Eco!

Will pull them out to have a look but looks like a trip to the dealer.

Had the same happen to me.  Got the warning coming up and neither bulb was working.  Checked fuses and all was ok.  Replaced both bulbs and been fine ever since (about a year now).

Must be that time of the year. Mine went last week although both bulbs weren't working only one seemed to be "burnt out". Replaced both and now working again. Not too bad to replace as VW did leave a bit of space to get them in.

I can believe they both popped at the same time - I had one blow and replaced it and then the other dropped dead about 4 days afterwards.

Neither came on when mine popped one,  presumably system deactivates.  Checked drivers side as was easier to get to,  swapped out the dead bulb and all fine 2 months later.

Thought Id share my story on this issue which may shed some light on it. The bend lighting (afs) error came up for me 2 days before my car was in for its first MOT (perfect timing!). Both cornering bulbs were off like most people here. because of this I didnt bother with changing the bulbs cos i thought if both are off must be a sensor and the car is still under warranty till the 22nd nov so ill get them to fix it before the mot.

Car was in for its MOT yesterday and passed which I was supprised with the bulb error but apparently that not part of the mot. not gonna argue with that! they said they couldnt get to the bottom of the issue so could I say in my courtesy car another day and they'll try sort it tomorrow.

got a call few hours ago saying its all fixed asked what the issue was "*sigh" dont ask!"

she went onto explain that they originally changed the bulb on one side, didnt work, took the bulb out put the old one back in then changed the bulb on the other side still no joy. they then changed a few sensors still no joy. eventually had to ring some internal tech helpline....

turns out you cant change one bulb at a time...both have to be changed at the same time or it errors. 2 days without my car cos of something simple like that!

Has anyone heard of the system needing 2 new bulbs for it to clear? from a technical stand point i dont see how it could know the difference

on the plus side I got both bulbs for free and a kit kat for my trouble haha
