Crazy! As mentioned above, it appears to be a very thorough job, but the cost of the mods and the insurance premium for all the mods must make it a bit silly?

Not only that, could you imagine how it feels when a real R arrives next to you at the lights? You'd feel like an utter idiot and want to sink into a hole.

Maybe he's selling it because he's realised that a real R isn't out of the question and he's ordered one!

That's only £495 more than I traded my gti for. If only I'd seen it before hand I could've nearly had an r  :lipsrsealed:

It looks to be a detailed conversion and reasonable quality.

BUT

Who's going to pay £17.5k for a 11k mile, 18 month old 1.2 Golf when you can buy an "unmolested example" for about £11k... even if it does look like an R...

I know he's trying to recoup his investment. Given the likely insurance impact of the conversion and the massively shrunken market that might show interest I think he probably needs to re-assess his asking price...

As asked above, why if he has invested that amount of time and money into his conversion... why sell it so soon?

To be honest my first thought was it was a VW press car.....used for photo shoots and cars shows prior to the R being in production. I just cannot believe someone could get hold of all the parts without it costing 20K......never mind the paint job....

Advert does suggest he did the mods....but Ive got my doubts....

I'd be inclined to agree. Common practice to build a mule for showing off before the platform is finished.
