Ok ok ...maybe lol.
I did find it a bit of a pain on my GTI tho due to the sensor underneath. ? Will depend on the location of everything I guess.
On another positive note the R I ordered 2 wks ago has come forward 7 wks to first week of feb for build....so im happy.

Yes admittedly thin arms are a prerequisite of the tuning box lol but I think the diesels have less sensor points I think. You mapping the R?

Yes, plugging in the DTUK TDI box is a doddle, everything is on top, under the plastic engine cover. I probably won't get the R box, i'll be happy enough just to get some decent traction*.

* I sent an email to German VW customer services today asking why they haven't learnt the lessons of 4 cars ago for me - Bridgestones offering poor traction and grip (my MK5 also tramped badly as it had Bridgestones), and smeary wiper blades suffered on the last 4 cars until a Bosch Aerotwin option was available. I provided my R order number and asked if there was any tag they could apply to my order to ensure I don't get Bridgestones.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

Thanks for the info on that. May be a while b4 dtuk bring out a box as its so new so will see. But should be easier yes.
And with the 4Motion it will take the extra no problem.

Bridgestones are possible on both wheels, but on 19" wheels it is almost a cert you will get Bridgestones it seems (from the R forum). Whether Bridgestones have been a favourite 19" since we were able to get GTD and GTI with Santiagos I don't know (maybe a few people on here with them can shed some light?), perhaps Bridgestones becoming more common (as VWs preferred rubber supplier) is a recent development since the R was made available?

I'll not suffer Bridgestones this time around. If neither the dealer nor VW can help me avoid them getting on my R, i'll be putting my hand in my pocket and getting some Michelins from Costco put on (you can order in Supersports, not sure how much they charge for those over PS3s) and the Bridgestones will be going on Gumtree or the buy and sell section here.

My 19s came with Pirelli P Zeros too. Grip wasn't amazing but the worst thing was the fronts were worn after 14k! The Dunlop sport maxx rts that I replaced them with are much better at gripping.

@MH someone made a good comment about getting the dealer to swap before you pick up the car. I'm sure if you have a good relationship with them its something they would do. Saves all that hassle.

Yes, it was mcmaddy - we both use the same dealer (and even the same salesman). If there's 2 Rs in around the same time on 18" wheels then it's a possibility to get the wheels swapped if one has Bridgestones and the other doesn't. Just trying to stop their fitment in the first place if I can, by letting VW know that Bridgestones are crap and so are the wipers they fit OEM.
