I haven't seen a single R in Newcastle or North Tyneside, but 4 GTDs and 3 GTIs are living in the vicinity.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

You two need to get out more lol.  Between 7_8am in a morning as im going through newcastle I see a minimum of 3 (2 blue (3dr+5dr) and one white sometimes also a black 5dr and another 3dr blue if im running late ) and on my way home between 4-5pm from work around 5 of them. (2 blue, couple black and a white one). Before you ask there not the same cars except the white one.. There is also some in the company carpark to the left and right of were I work. 2 in the one on the right and 1 to the left (this ones dark blue I quite like this one). My commute is from walsend area to askew road through the centre of town. If I leave early on Friday around 3 sometimes or stay back late till around 6 I see different Rs in the centre of newcastle. Theres probably more ive just stopped noticing.
Im expecting with the cheap finance deals too see alot more. I have seen a couple springup of late mainly as the blue stands out but dont see them regular like the ones above.
Seen loads of GTDs so stopped looking. GTIs though ive seen very few.

Had a look in Silverlink today, just to look at the whole palette of Golf colours and reassure myself that Lapiz blue was the way to go and that I wasn't bothered about the 19" Pretorias.

Only one R was there, it was white, with Pretorias. I took a good look at them and they really do look dainty - one pothole and I think you may be looking at more than potential tyre damage. What I did notice though, was that the hubs of the brake discs look to be really well painted, not a spot of rust on a 14 plater they have there. I wondered, are those discs (presumed same as the ones on the GTI PP) universally better painted? Anyone with an R or a PP have any rust on their hubs? Maybe VW are painting them all better on the later cars.

Anyway, I looked and looked at a car that was listed up as Reflex Silver on the spec sheet, but didn't look white enough. I saw a Limestone Grey, which was significantly darker (and looking very pure titanium in colour), and finally at the back of the lot I saw a Silver that was very white and bright - it was the Reflex. The other had to be Tungsten Silver, it was more of an Opal Silver (i've not confused it with Oryx). Then I saw a black GTD (i'd almost forgotten how my dad's looked, not seen it in 9 months, and it was filthy when I did) - looks very menacing.

If I could be arsed with cleaning it every other day and cobwebs etc sticking out like a sore thumb, i'd be going for the black, but after seeing a Rising Blue Scirocco I just about convinced myself i'm sticking with Lapiz Blue.

If we could get 19 inch Cadiz wheels I'd go for them. I feel in 18 inch guise the car looks underwheeled IMO.
Strange that the scirocco is available with these.

I wonder if it is the later cars they are doing better? My GTD has silver / grey on the hubs and not a hint of rust. Massive difference compared to the Mk6 that were actually rusting on pick up day.

My hubs have a few little spots of rust starting so i don't think there is any difference, just the luck of the draw methinks. :'(

Mine haven't rusted but I keep my car in the garage every night. So I figured that's enough to keep them rust free.

Apparantly we are in for the coldest/harshest winter in 100 years.  So this year will be a good test!

VW Ireland are knocking circa 10000 euro of the price of an R !!

I see there is a offer starting now free camera and stuff but price still starting at €51995.But nothing about 10 Grand off!
Do you know if they are going to take the price down?
IT can only get better!!!
