Looks like its as I suspected and you need a different cable / software to rewrite the cars CCM    it cant be done via VCDS as far as I can see

The brief bit of research I did was related to Audi's but they use the same parts so I guess its applicable.  A group of people had found out how to alter the EEPROM within the CCM that allows the mirrors but obviously they won't share the ins and outs 

It was either that or you possibly need a new door control module 

All of the above is based on memory from a few months ago I'm afraid
