Would you buy your GTI/GTD again?

The only mistake I made was to quick to opt for the GTD when I really wished id gone for the GTI. The car looks great and is by far the best looking in its class in comparison to the new A3, BM etc. However, its a great car; drives well, sturdy, quick for what you need and is still a hell of a head turner. So yes, I would order the GTD again.

Only thing that still p*sses me off to this day is how the A3 s line comes with the leather seats as standard. I believe Audi drivers have to pay £500 odd quid for the keyless option which is ridiculous

I opted for yes, but to change some optional extras. I love the car I've specced, but I would try to find the extra cash to go for the Performance Pack next time round. 80% of the time I don't miss it, but it is that occasional B-Road blast when the front struggles to get the power down out of bends that I wish I had it.

Only other thing I would go for is the PRO nav (I only have standard Discover Nav) as I would like the big screen.

Other than that, I'd have this car again in a heartbeat.

I would love to get into the new TTS but your looking at a starting price of £40k so I don't see that happening. So I'm probably looking at an R, S3 or M235i as my next purchase in 2 years.

I've heard nothing but rumour about the TTS price. The VAG group generally hold to an exchange rate of 1.20-1.25 Euros to the pound to compare Germany prices to UK prices. You can configure the 2.0TFSI (230ps) and the 2.0TDI (184ps) model on the Audi.de website now. There are no indications as to TTS price right now. The 2.0TFSI (230ps) TT starts at 35k Euros, which should be around £28-29.1k, only £700 - 1800 more than the GTI PP with the same output. I would be very surprised to see the TTS at more than £35k unless it is packed to the gills with equipment that is optional on the base models. With the comparison of GTI PP to GTI PP, the German model appears significantly cheaper, but the equipment level is sparse compared to the UK. By the time you get the German spec up to UK levels of equipment, you are talking over 33k Euros, or an equivalent exchange rate of 1.20 Euros to the pound.

If it were £32k, it would make the TTS over an S3 a probability for me, if it were £35k but packed with around £3k's worth of desirable equipment that doesn't come with the S3 and better residuals than the S3, it'd just about be still in contention. I really can't see the TTS being £9k more than the S3 with an extra 10ps, i'll believe it when I see it for 48k Euros on the German site (or 44k Euros with a very sparse equipment list, lower than UK equipment expectations).

Wow - it's the Quattro being completely tied in to S-tronic now that's really bumping even the base models up. Don't want S-tronic, would probably have Quattro if I could get it on its own. Makes quite a difference to the 0-62 time - 5.3s with Quattro and S-tronic, 6.0 without. S-line would probably do me, with parking sensors, but the price of those is taking the piss a bit. If Audi's prices put it in line with a Cayman in the upper (TTS/TTRS) specs,i'd rather have the Cayman every time. If the Residuals are stronger than the S3, it might be worth it. Audi's GFV figures are extremely cautious. I was looking at the S3 the other day and was given a quote with 55% GFV (although the dealer seemed to be tweaking it, like it had some discretionary tolerance), amounting to £17600 with £1200 of extras, although he indicated that a tidy 30k miles/3 year old variant would probably be giving a p/x allowance of £3k over and above that GFV.

But....I sort of wish I'd waited for the R as I get sh!tty mpg (31 average after 15k miles) so I might of well had the extra power and give even less of a toss about petrol consumption that I clearly all ready do!

Yup, my thinking exactly.

Also, I just specced the new TT, 2.0 quattro S-tronic with some extras - came to £38,500 - well you can get an DSG R £6k cheaper than that (list price) with the same extras and it's a lot quicker.  I know Audi are going for a more exclusive price, but really?  I'd expect to pay £40k for a TTS but not for a billy basic 2.0 litre

I answered no but my answer has probably been influenced by the fact that I also own a 3.0 ltr v6 r line touareg which I purchased a few months ago and is a much nicer and  more comfortable place to be . The MK7 does not look anywhere near as nice as the MK6 did( imo) and is quite bland,dont get me wrong the MK7 is a good car but not a great car and despite the hype does not do anything the MK6 couldn't .

If I were to buy a car again, I would definitely go for the new Renaultsport Megane. That was my option when I bought the GTI as well, but the price put me off as the GTI was cheaper and I also got a big discount through carwow. Also the GTI comes almost fully speced as standard while on the Megane RS I had to add a lot of optionals to get it to the GTI level.
