Golf Mk4 - AGU - ABS Problem
« on: 31 July 2014, 23:36 »
Hi guys.

I am having a problem with my ABS cutting in at low speeds between 1-10mph the peddle has a judder when slowing down and a less that disirable grind like noise from the front. Also a clicking noise when free wheeling. Also When pulling off from stop the car has a grinding sound.

the car just had the following done.

All new calipers all round (Front & Rear)
Brembo drilled and grooved disc's (Front & Rear)
Brembo Pads
Front hubs and wheelbearings (Front only both sides)
ECS Dogbone mount
JOM Coilovers (No Rubbing)
Whiteline ARB
Adjustable DropLinks
Forged 11mm Spacers (Front & Rear)
40mm Wheel bolts.

At first i thought it was the longer wheel bolts but the wheels spin free when jacked up so i am now suspecting something to do with the ABS.

The system was blead with vag com i believe the peddle still feels rather soft for the first 10-15 cm then firms up.

Any help would be fantastic and i shall upload some photos in the morning if required.

many thanks!

damaged abs sensor, warped disc and inner cv joint on driveshaft, one of these is my guess. you did reset the brake caliper when doing the brakes right?

Discs are fine no warping. inner cv clear of driveshaft.  abs sensors all working correct.

How do you reset the brakes? Is that Vag-com?

Resetting the brake calipers, is where you get a brake piston rewind tool then screw the piston back in. if not the pads may bind on the disc due to lack of clearance, which could be the grinding that you are hearing.

The calipers were wound back before fitting and system was blead with vagcom

Though the peddle still fells a little loose. Had a look at the pads and can't see any problem with them no uneven marks or anthing.

Cheers.
