Playing video on the screen
« on: 29 July 2014, 16:22 »
Anyone have any luck playing video on the main screen from an iPod or phone? I have the standard CMS setup but every time I plug my phone in and navigate to the video folder, it says something along the lines of 'no playable files' even though I have some videos in there.

I thought video playback was ONLY possible on the Discover Pro system?

Correct me if i am wrong......

I am under the impression video playback is possible on the CMS system, but requires the Red banded cable.

The Red cable is normally only supplied with Discover Pro, but can be purchased.

Yep I'm sure I have read the standard CMS will play video with the red collar cable for iphone 4/4s and green collar for 5/5s.  The green cable will set you back about £40 on eBay.

It's not about cables - yes those cables will carry a video signal as evidenced by the screen showing artwork.... But I don't believe the standard screen has either the resolution or the refresh rate to carry video.... I may be wrong, but I don't think I am!

Possibly not the processing power either to render video - the Pro has a better processor to handle 3d etc.. doesnt it?

Can confirm with the red lead you can play video off your IPhone (In my case an unused 3GS) on the standard system without any issues at all.

Will obviously only function when stationary but good for when waiting for any extended period for wife/daughters which is quite the norm!

By iVideo do you mean an apple standard video (downloaded from the iTunes store)? They are usually .MOV files but they won't work for me.

I have the green collared lead so I need red? I've never seen a red lighting one!?
