Anyone having issues with rust on the wheel hubs not sure I have the right terminology here, its painted silver but on all 4 of my wheels its showing about 1/4 of it has now rusted - would this be covered under warranty ?

Won't be covered on warranty, it's nice that they're painted from the factory actually. They will always rust I'm afraid. Best you can do is take the wheels off rub down and paint with smooth hammerite and it'll last much longer (if you do enough prep a pretty long time :) )

Hammerite every few years keeps them looking like new. F and E series BMW owners (like me) had it within 1month of ownership. Just get cheap brush and crack on with it

This seems to vary, car to car. Not sure why it should, but this is my third Golf and, in this respect, the best of the lot. All 4 still look quite smart, and I live by the sea! As said above, the treatment is to paint them yourself with Hammerite, or something similar. You might also want to do your brake callipers, unless you're lucky enough to have the factory painted jobs.

I'm out in Cyprus and the car has seen rain (in the time I've had it) less than half a dozen times and the discs are rusting in the centre.

Time for the smoothrite!

Isn't the hub part of the brake disc assembly? If so just do a track day and get the discs changed

I have had the hammerite/smoothrite paint bubble on brake hub especially on track days due to the nanny braking system lightly squeezing the brakes constantly. If you do track days you may want to consider the caliper specific paints that are available. But fir road use its been fine otherwise

I have a mk4 with 137k on the clock, so I am not fussy about rusty disk hubs. You can't see much through the flaking on the rims anyway...

But if I was I wouldn't use Hammerite. Stove enamel is an old fashioned paint made for high temp applications (i.e. stoves). Much more robust for the application.

Very High Temperature (VHT) engine lacquer will work just as well as any caliper paint kit and cost you a lot less
