Cruise Control Exclamation!
« on: 16 June 2014, 10:22 »
Hi gents, I've got an exclamation mark against the cruise logo on the dash. Cruise works sometimes normally after I've just set off then the exclamation appears and cruise won't engage!

Had anyone got any tips other than get the dealer to charge me £80 just to look at it?

Cheers,

Jim

Just started to get the same. Any advice much appreciated.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

The exclamation mark seems to mean you have a standing fault with an ECU - likely the engine ECU,
I had it recently when my throttle pedal was playing up: EPC light on, 'Engine Fault - Workshop' up on the DIS, Exclamation mark by the cruise indication and no boost available - limp mode.
It would come in/out...and with every exclamation mark came limp mode.

If you get your faults scanned you should be able to work out what's causing it.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

It makes VCDS at £240 look like a worthwhile purchase. 3 lots of VW diagnostics at £80 and it's paid for.

It might just have been a bogus fault caused by irregular voltage in the first place and needs the stored codes erasing to fix it.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Thanks for the advice. Will get a VCDS scan as a starting point and take it from there. Know someone with Ross tech software. Hopefully just a bogus alert as there are no other fault lights or messages.

Thanks gents, I've noticed what triggers it to come on! When I use the indicator turning right that's when the exclamation comes up and the Cruise stops working!

Very odd, anyone heard of this? I know i'll end up having to pay £80 for the dealer to scan the error codes as I don't know anyone local with VCDS.

Thanks gents,

Jim
