I've never said anywhere it was for watching videos on the move

Yes I have it enabled on my current car but I have a cowl made so I can't even see the screen if we are on a long drive and the Mrs is watching something. VIM doesn't interest me at all.

What I was more interested in is mirroring your phone to the display. Some have done it on the A1 but as soon as the car moves the display goes also. Sat Nav that only displays while stopped is useless

On a similar note, its absolutely crazy that my car will allow me to access the internet and read the smallest of text while on the move legally yet hides moving pictures that would be a lot less dangerous to look at. Bizarre

Surely a lot safer to provide passengers with an iPad and a set of headphones?

This is a genuine question but which road act/ part of the Highway Code forbids it and differentiates between vim and a moving map? Just interested to know. Or would they try to nail you for driving without due care & attention?

People smoking drive without due care and attention so the current regulations are flaky at best. Anything that involves you not concentrating 100% on your driving could be classed as driving without due care and attention and is probably why the know alls in Whitehall will be banning any mobile phone use in a car period even with Bluetooth.

It was enabled on my current car at the time, the A1 and I did that with VCDS.
I've never really pursued it on the Golf although know it can be done with the alternative VCDS. (can't rem its name just now)

Its crazy to watch videos on the move, I totally get that but with the Audi you could read the news, weather etc with "Audi Connect" while driving and probably the police wouldn't bat an eye if they passed you. I'd imagine this would be the same as VW's Car-Net
