Correct grade oil?
« on: 16 March 2014, 19:13 »
Hey guys,
Really sorry if this info is covered elsewhere. But the more I read up online, the more confused I got?
Need to top up my oil soon, and struggling to find out which grade oil I will require?
Is it 5w/30, 5w/40, or 10w/40?
I'm leaning towards believing its 5w/30. If it is, am I better off with Castrol Edge or Mobil 1 Esp?
Thanks in advance for all help.

Not sure about the oil, but have you booked your remap yet? :)

Hey Missy,
No. Sadly the mrs got made redundant. So cannot justify the extra expense right now, with just my wage coming in. But hopefully if she gets another job soon, the remap will still be done sometime shortly after.
I know from reading what you've posted after getting it done, you're loving the car even more now than before!

Sorry to hear about her job, hopefully another one comes up soon. Yeah the car is great, so nice to be able to overtake even in 6th gear lol

5w30 is the correct grade, either brand mentioned is adequate.

You need a VW 504 approved oil.
