Welcome. I love my GTD - very comfy and economical, I've done 1100 miles in 2 weeks and averaged 50mpg.

The wait is a killer though..

No regrets over not getting a GTI?

I did the same with my local dealership, they beat DTD's price :)

I can't see why anyone would regret not getting a GTI if the PP wasn't required.
Balls out the GTI would be a lot quicker but the GTD covers ground just as quick in real life conditions, has likely got a better resale and costs less to run.
I spent a fair bit of time in mk6 GTIs and GTDs and have to say that unless remapped the GTD is a more rewarding car to drive on that chassis as the mk6 GTI lacks torque and is crap on fuel in comparison. Can't see why the mk7 would be any different.

Will take cover behind the sofa now!!!

Can't say I ever drive like that!
There's more to moving quickly than standing start acceleration to illegal speeds in a road car.
Mind you I'm old so what do I know...

Hi all
I have'nt posted for ages but after much thought I have taken the plunge and ordered a new GTi
I kept it simple, 5 door 22obhp in white
I was loathe to part with my cherished 10 reg red GTi with only 27000 miles on it and in mint condition but after a test drive I decided to go ahead
Also I am 71 years old and you cannot take your money with you, if you get my meaning, and interest on savings is useless at the moment
Got part x of £13000 which I think is ok for a 4 year old car and managed to get £1000 of the list price so Im fairly happy
Just did the deal yesterday so awaiting tracking number etc.
Do you think I got a decent deal?

Was that Benfield, Pulman or further afield?

I found Benfield to be woeful for p/x offer and offered next to nowt off list (with Silverlink being a lot worse than Scotswood Road) - I went to Pulman Sunderland instead.

I think you got a pretty good price on a 10 plate MK6 GTI (assuming average miles and no significant options like leather, big nav, Xenons) - 50% retained on a 4 year old car is good going.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
