Passenger door not opening....

Just new to this forum, so if this isn't in the right section, then apologies.. but thought you people may know this!

I have a 2008 Golf gt tdi sport, when I open the car using the key fob, I press it once to open the drivers door, and twice to open passenger door as well... however, when I press it twice the passenger door doesn't open now! On the drivers door there is a button to lock the doors, and again, if I press it twice then it should unlock the passenger door, this doesn't unlock it either.

When I press it, I can hear the passenger door unlock, but it just won't open. I can pull the handle on the door but again it doesn't open...

Would anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Is there any other way to open the door?

Door card off job... possibly the lock has a fault or is disconnected...

Not sure this would be picked up in the fault memory but worth a scan if you have someone local with VCDS.

I have a similar problem with my drivers door, however I can use the key to manually open the lock. Sounds like the lock itself is at fault and the mechanical side has failed.

just had my drivers side door on my 55 plate done. With ours, the alarm didn't engage due to the failed lock. All the doors lock apart from the broken one and the lights don't go off to say the car is alarmed.

It's outer door card off i believe and the lock is expensive as only VW sell them unless you want to get a dodgy chinese one off ebay.

Left it to a mechanic today, and he said it would be best getting VW to look at it. He couldn't even hear the door open when the button was pressed, but when the button went to lock it, could hear it then..

Anyone any idea how much VW would charge for this? Do they have any online support thing or anything?
