It seems to take for ever having to scroll through the whole list of contacts in the 6 if you want one that's towards the bottom, perhaps it's quicker to use the touch screen?
If you use the up key on the steering wheel it starts scrolling from the bottom - so only the entries in the middle take a bit of time to get to!

Totally agree with the above, bloody stupid and dangerous. According to the chaps over at Motortalk.de, this "feature" is available if you have the advanced phone prep (which we don't have in the UK - we have standard and optional comfort).

Also, anyone noticed that it actually takes quite a long time for the system to hang up a call and revert back to whatever music source was playing ? In the scirocco, it was pretty immediate (say about a second or so) after pressing the end call button, whereas in my GTD, it takes about 7-10 seconds for it to hang up and revert back to music.

I think this one may warrant campaigning against Vw for a software upgrade, on the grounds of safety.

Forgive me if I've got tho wrong but is it not the same when scrolling for music via an iPod? I find the system really rubbish when looking for an album. I had I drive a few years back which was just a joy to navigate.

Mine is pretty instant to be honest Sootchucker. Never had a problem with it.

I have had lots of people of the other end of the phone while i'm driving complaining about my "sh!tty hands free" though.

There is a feature in the options list called 'Advanced Phone Preparation'.

I thought this was only for the signal boosting tech in the centre armrest cubby? I have this, so will check if I can browse my phone book..can't say I've ever needed to thought (or on the Mk6) as it's generally easier for me to just use my phone. Either that or the person is in my recent call list.

To be honest this is the first car I've had with this sort of tech, and I thought it was just me not setting things up correctly. With the emphasis on safety, these days, I can't believe vw  have set the phone system up this way.  Is the 'voice recognition' feature only available with the advanced phone prep ? I can't seem to set it up.  I've had to resort to 'one belling' my contacts so that they appear in my recent calls list on the instrument cluster  Do we think vw will listen to complaints regarding this?

I have checked and it's the same for me, even with advanced phone prep, no matter what buttons I press I can only get to the recent/ missed/ all calls list - not my address book.

I think voice activation is an option? I know it's not standard, that's for sure.
