Recommend me some tyres - 195/50 R15 for my Corrado
« on: 28 January 2014, 16:37 »
Hello, I need to replace the tyres currently on the Corrado.  What experience do folks have buying tyres recently?

Possibilities at the moment are

Michelin (stretch on price, but should last and perform) - around £75 a corner

Hankook £60 all in

Yoko Parada2 £60 all in

What thoughts do have people have on this score?

Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

For my last two sets of alloys (currently running porsche teledials 16") I have used Falken 9e14's!

If you go by the newish goverment rating thing they beat so many more expensive tires that you really wouldn't expect them to! As for actual experience I find they grip immensely well. Very noticeable in the wet the grip they have!

They seem to fit well into your price range and I found the best place to shop for them was blackcircles :)

Ive looked up reveiws for these falkens and find many saying what ive said, good tire for a good price :)

Good proce too depending on the size you have on your corrado :)

If you flick through and compare with conti's and other brands you'll see what I mean on the rating I was shocked.

And finally if you think im taking bull http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Falken/ZE914.htm even a GTI reveiw on there (not me) lol

Dont get the yoko parada 2. I went from toyo t1r to them and wished I hadn't.  Dry grip was only slightly better for the toyo but wet grip the toyo are much better than the yoko.

So if you are considering them then the toyo t1r should be considered too.
For the money they cant be beat.

I have the falken ze 914 on both the corrado and the turnip Saab. Saab handles them much better than the C, which I have very little confidence with in the wet. Bear in mind that both cars running 17" rims so that will obviously make a fair amount of difference with sidewall movement, but I think the rigid-ness of the chassis on the C makes them a bit more skittish.
Not sure how they are supposedly so good in the wet either, as they are not side specific so tread pattern doesn't expel water outward.

Sh*t wet grip and they'll be gone fast.

False economy.

Let's see how the Michelins run from next week.
