Thanks, so as long as it's a screen that's OEM with sensor sensitive, if that makes a difference , everything should be ok. I will let you know how the instal goes and the outcome.

Yeah - there's "good" makes and "bad" makes.

Obviously the more well known makes are preferable, but mine was NordGlass - which gets some flak on forums, but honestly? It was a perfect fit and looked identical. They are all manufactured to within the same specifications as you can't really go selling a dangerous windscreen - at least from what I read.

Like everything VW sell, it's just overpriced if it has their name on it.

You'll be fine mate.

Mine came with a 12 month warranty, so if it cracked, came loose or a seal split it's be replaced FOC.

And yeah - if yours has the sensor, make sure it's the sense type or you'll have all the wires showing at the top of the screen :-D

Just trying to get mine sorted through Autoglass / Churchill / Sainsbury's.

Have had VW say that any water ingress issues would invalidate the VW warranty if a non-OEM windscreen was fitted.  AG's counter comment was they have their own warranty for water ingress caused by their making.  I further asked if they would fix any damage caused by the water and not just leak itself.  They said that they would make good, but I can't help feeling it opens you up to a very grey area between two parties who don't easily open their wallets.

So pushing to get an OEM windscreen, will see what their engineer consultant chap agrees too.

This morning my windscreen got changed by Autoglass. I've got to say that the technician Andy that did the install was very professional and knowledgable. Checked and signed off the car with me before starting work, dressed and protected the interior, very good service all together. The replacement screen is a pilkington with no VW marking, I questioned him over this and he said I had nothing to worry about, the VW screens are the same with a extra VW stamp and more $$$. Rain and light sensors work great. He said it's better that he fits it rather than a VW technician, he said that VW would call them to fit or you would get a VW tech who does the job a couple of times a year and wouldn't have his experience.

VW warranty were OK with Autoglass working on my car and Autoglass guarantee the screen and their work for life while I own the car.
