Nope. Completely different. The mk7 coil packs are bolted down!

Had the same thing happen today as I was stuck on the M4 for about 90min.

EPC light came on, stop-start error and engine started to misfire and I actually had to rev it to stop it stalling... going to book it in as soon as I can.

Very disappointed.

Had this happen on my car last week too.  Stuck in very slow moving stop/start traffic for about 30 mins - engine started running very rough (misfiring?), then EPC and check engine lights on. Engine eventually stalled - restarted OK but symptoms and EPC/check engine light returned shortly after.  Reached my destination soon after and its been fine since then.

I was going to book in to get it checked, but reading this thread there seems little point  :undecided:

Not happy.

Well I called the supplying dealership, and they could book me in only during the week and they warned me that if the problem was not covered under warranty that there would be an hours labour charge. £140..

So not only a day off work required but a potential £140 charge too?

Getting less impressed by the second here.

I hate this dealer attitude.  How about we say, OK... and if you don't fix the car first time and I have to bring it back I will charge you £140 for the wasted time..

In all seriousness, call the sales person tomorrow and tell them you are very unhappy at this treatment.

Thanks for the advice. I will pop into the dealership at the weekend and see what they say then.

I really couldn't believe what I was hearing when I got through to the (dis)service department.

I did ask if I was better off letting the car stall out and call VW assist to recover me. The response was if the fault was covered under warranty it would be a free fix but if not, work would be charged at the standard rate...

Judging by the responses here there is a problem somewhere with idling engines, such a rookie issue to have.

Is that the MK dealership?  Got my car booked in there for Friday so will report back what they find (probably nothing!).
