Must be quite a deep one so Craig. Bummer.
Or it could indeed be dirt/grit from the stone. Try polishing it...

Yeah but two very small chips right beside each other so shouldn't be too difficult to fill in hopefully . Famous last words

I've had a couple of small chips on the front of the bonnet, easily touched up and I now can't see them.

Either the paint is better on the mk7 compared with the mk 6 or the ACC/city braking/warning lights and sounds are helping keep a good distance from the car in front.

My mk6 needed a front bumper/ bonnet respray after the first Winter, it looked like it had had several point blank blasts from a shot gun.

So far, so good.
Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Noticed my first today during a wash. CSG and it's through to bare metal. Gutting as I'm super careful driving, avoiding everything I can and keeping silly distances behind things.

Hadn't even heard anything that sounded like a stone, so the paint must be super soft.
